INTRODUCTION
With this year’s Critical
Communications
World set to take
place in Kuala Lumpur,
I am very much looking forward to
TCCA bringing the event back to
Asia, and to meeting members of
the global critical communications
community in Malaysia to discuss
their common challenges and
successes, and benefi t from
valuable fi rst-hand experience.
This exchange of information
and perspectives from different
regions is at the core of this year’s
conference programme, with
public safety operators hailing
from several continents presenting
their strategies, priorities, and
challenges. We are delighted to
have Malaysia’s Sapura Group
as Host Operator, and on behalf
of TCCA I would like to extend
our thanks for their support.
We look forward to learning in
depth about Malaysia’s critical
communications landscape.
This sense of coming together
applies to sectors as well as
regions. The unique thing about
TCCA and its events is that we
bring all critical communications
users under the same roof – a
vital function given that we need
to work together to drive the
economies of scale that will allow
the ecosystem that supports our
common efforts to fl ourish.
In March we held Critical
Communications Europe (CCE) in
the UK, and in addition to being
the fi rst time we’ve co-located
the event with the BAPCO Annual
Conference and Exhibition, it also
hosted the inaugural meeting of
the International Government
Operator Forum. If you’re
interested in knowing more about
its work look out for a session on
its progress at CCW.
Many operators around the world
are going through a transition with
regard to their critical networks,
either refreshing their narrowband
networks, or implementing
mission-critical broadband. CCW
will provide a forum for discussion
on the different approaches, and
particularly the spectrum issues.
In many countries, regulators
have seen fi t to auction off
harmonised spectrum for PPDR to
commercial operators. As the use
of commercial networks is being
increasingly considered, CCW
will feature a dedicated session
on how public safety operators
can best engage with their
commercial counterparts.
As well as an authoritative
conference programme and a full
range of exhibitors showcasing
the future of our industry,
we will also be running our
hugely popular masterclasses,
covering apps, broadband, critical
communications for non-PPDR
markets, TETRA and security.
See you in Kuala Lumpur!
