Critical Communications World 2019 2019 WORLD
VIP NIGHT SHOWCASE THEATRE
Delegates were taken on an
adventure for this year’s
VIP night, which took place
in renowned ‘rustic luxe’ restaurant
Tamarind Springs. Following a short,
air-conditioned, journey by coach to
the venue, VIPs were greeted with
the choice of either Champagne or a
traditional soft drink, before enjoying
informal networking time in the jungle.
Dinner was a buffet, showcasing the
very best of Southeast Asian cuisine.
Diners also witnessed some traditional
Malaysian dancing, specially organised
as pre- and post-dinner entertainment.
Alongside the masterclass and
conference programmes, another
source of best practice at CCW
2019 was the Showcase Theatre,
which was located at the heart of
the exhibition. Curated specifi cally to
give visitors the opportunity to take a
deep dive into new technology being
showcased at the event, it featured a
variety of themes including security,
reliability, as well as the use of missioncritical
communications across a variety
of verticals.
Headline presentations in the
Showcase Theatre came from Chinese
smart technology manufacturer
Huawei, looking in particular at ‘videoempowered
mobile policing’.
Also strongly represented
meanwhile was Critical
Communications Finland, with the
country once more proving itself to
be at the front line when it comes to
the development and deployment of
critical communications solutions.
The latter provided an indepth
panel discussion, looking at the
key solutions necessary to enable
successful fi eld operations within a
mission critical environment.
CCW events always prove to be an extremely valuable annual investment for any stakeholder involved in
business/mission-critical wireless communications. This year’s event in Kuala Lumpur again proved the point,
exceeding expectations in all areas.
The quality and range of presentations in the masterclasses on day one, as well as the two-day conference
programme that followed, highlighted the current exciting times in the industry, from both the end-user and
supply channel perspectives. The exhibition space likewise reinforced the sense of vibrancy and innovation
that is occurring in the realm of existing, open-standards-based, digital land mobile radio solutions.
Kevin Graham, founding director, ACCF; managing director, Global Digital Solutions
CCW was very well organised with very relevant programme content, as always. I was particularly drawn
to the presentations relating to the future of critical communications internationally, and in particular to
the use of broadband LTE and 5G technology in the support of public safety and other mission-critical
communications. There was a tremendous amount of both formal and informal discussion among industry
experts, which was interesting, relevant and useful.
All in all, it was a very informative and relevant event and I look forward to next year in Madrid.
Jason Karp, co-founder, The Public Safety Network
CCW 2019 was, as expected, a great place to catch up and meet and greet with critical communications
experts from around the world. The ICCAs gala, meanwhile, brought a little glamour to the event, while also
providing recognition of the achievements of every shortlisted person and company.
It was remarkable to see so much evidence of TETRA’s bright future at the show, with many new products
and innovations. At the same time, there was also an increasing amount of broadband-related products
and services, paving the way for the likes of AI. The spirit of ‘success-in-cooperation’ advocated by my
organisation Critical Communications Finland is gaining momentum and was evident across CCW 2019.
