Carbyne and Google
offer ELS in Mexico
Emergency call specialist Carbyne has
partnered with Google to o er advanced
mobile location services to emergency
communications centres in Mexico.
According to the company, Carbyne will
provide the technology giant’s Android ELS
(Emergency Location Service) in real time
from calls to public safety agencies made on
Android devices.
ELS technology “securely and
automatically” shares the caller’s location with
emergency dispatchers when activated within
the caller’s region. Deployment of the solution
can be performed without any integration
between Carbyne’s and pre-existing systems.
Prior to roll-out, both companies
participated in a four-week pilot programme
taking place in Mexico, during which
Carbyne’s engineering and operations teams
resolved “numerous technical issues”.
Louisiana uni selects
Everbridge for alerts
Tulane University in New Orleans has rolled
out Everbridge’s emergency communications
solution to handle urgent noti cations on
campus. All students, as well as faculty and
sta , will be automatically enrolled.
Speaking of the deployment, Donald Veals,
Tulane’s emergency and preparedness response
manager, said: “When an emergency or
threat is identi ed, the university’s emergency
preparedness and response team can send
out information using the mass-noti cation
capability and recommend the best course of
action. Noti cations will be sent via phone call,
text message and email.”
One of the components of the Everbridge
platform is a feature called Safety Connection,
which provides a “location-aware approach
to physical security, informing travelling and
study-abroad students when threats could
impact their wellbeing”.
Hytera wins TETRA
contract in Peru
Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH Sucursal del Peru
has won an invitation to tender from Peru’s
National Police.
According to the company, this will, over
the next three years, enable it to “expand
and modernise” its existing TETRA radio
network in the Piura, Lambayeque, Trujillo,
Cajamarca, Cusco, Arequipa, Callao and
Lima regions across the nation.
e agreement includes maintenance of
the network, as well as 24-hour support. e
company will also provide software updates
for its ACCESSNET-T IP system in the eld,
improvement of coverage in ‘shadow zones’,
an increase in network capacity, as well as the
installation of an ACAPI ‘application lab’.
e latter is an application environment/test
system, designed to enable the development
of mission-critical applications under ACAPI
and TETRA standards.
