Airbus provides 4G
for motorbike race
Airbus has provided 4G coverage to the
44th Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais
motorbike race, which took place at the
beginning of February in France.
e company supplied its smart device
‘collaboration’ Tactilon Agnet 900 technology,
alongside an LTE tactical cell. anks to
this technology, says Airbus, “the local
re ghters were in a position to better
protect the expected 500,000 visitors during
the three-day event”.
Talking of the deployment, a spokesperson
for the company said: “Airbus signed a
partnership with the local re department to
reinforce the operations management system
they implement every year, and to allow them
to use video streaming or picture transmission
in real time.”
e Enduropale takes place on the beaches
of Touquet-Paris-Plages, southwest of Calais.
Motorola to update
Lithuania’s network
Motorola Solutions and the Republic of
Lithuania’s Ministry of the Interior have signed
a ve-year contract, under which the company
will modernise and maintain the country’s
nationwide TETRA network.
e network is used by public safety
organisations and law enforcement agencies.
e programme will include upgrades to
the controller hardware and the base station
software for operations. Motorola will also
provide maintenance and support services
for ve years, including real-time network
monitoring from its network operations centre
and the delivery of technical support, repair
and security services. It will deliver an end-toend
incident management system using call
taking, dispatch and rst-responder work ow
systems to help organisations respond more
e ectively and have greater access to actionable
intelligence in the eld.
Frequentis enables
Virve for Finnish rail
e Finnish railway network can now use the
country’s Virve TETRA technology, following
the recent implementation of Frequentis’s
Uni ed Railway Communication and
Application (URCA) system, which has a radiobearer
independent infrastructure. According
to the company, the contract also includes
voice recording as well as RAPLI, a smartphone
application which allows the usage of the railspeci
c functions on public mobile networks.
Speaking of the rationale behind the
roll-out, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure
Authority’s Markku Voutilainen said: “We
selected the application solution from
Frequentis to support us in the transitional
replacement of current radio technology
GSM-R, and allow communications to
continue independently of the radio network
technology. is enables us toward our goal for
cost savings and e ciency.”
