DAMM unveils new
R&D vice-president
DAMM Cellular Systems has appointed
Hauke Holm as its vice-president of research
and development.
According to DAMM, Hauke has more
than 20 years of experience within the critical
communications business, most recently with
Hytera Mobilfunk in Germany as its CTO,
with speci c responsibility for R&D and
product management.
Speaking of the appointment, owner
and CTO of DAMM, Hans Damm, said:
“Hauke’s achievements and results from
Hytera and other companies make him the
ideal candidate for the position. His strong
engineering and industry knowledge combined
with his innovative approach and business
understanding will strongly contribute to our
strategy. I am con dent that he will be a major
asset as the company continues to build its
presence globally.
Sepura supplies
TETRA for ski cup
Leisure company SkiStar Åre installed a new
TETRA solution – supplied by Swedish
Radio Supply and Sepura – in preparation
for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2019, which
took place at the beginning of this year. Åre
rented an additional 550 portable TETRA
devices for use during the event.
During the winter season, SkiStar sta
will have access to 170 Sepura SC20 handportable
radios, with built-in Bluetooth and
3 watts power output, to ensure improved
public safety within the ski resort. ese
radios will enable the 500 seasonal workers
to maintain safety across the resort, especially
during the winter season when 89 ski slopes
are open. SkiStar is looking forward to
expanding its TETRA system and including
other facilities in the region such as Sälen,
Vemdalen, Hammarbybacken, Trysil
(Norway) and Hemsedal (Norway).
Everbridge used
ahead of Super Bowl

Enterprise safety platform Everbridge was
deployed by the city of Atlanta to alert those in
the vicinity to critical events occurring around
Super Bowl LIII, which took place at the
beginning of February.
e service was available through the
city’s pre-existing ‘emergency alert’ system
NotifyATL, and was activated by the sending
of a text to a speci c number. Users received
updates from emergency management o cials
via their smart device, receiving information
relating to tra c, weather, potential street
closures and so on. Super Bowl LIII – which
took place at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium
– saw the New England Patriots beat a heavily
outcoached Los Angeles Rams team 13 to 3.
City of Atlanta o cials expected 150,000
out-of-town visitors, with more than one
million people attending a series of related
events in the 10 days leading up to it.
