Celebrating our sector’s contribution to ghting Covid-19
MA BUSINESS, PUBLISHER
of Eureka!, The Engineer and
many other titles, has launched
#EngineeringHeroes, a
campaign designed to honour
the way engineering and
manufacturing have stepped up
during the Covid-19 pandemic to
address shortages of medical and
protective equipment has been
truly inspiring.
As the UK’s largest publisher
of engineering titles,
MA Business is determined
that this contribution should
never be forgotten. That’s why
we have brought together all
of our engineering brands to
launch #EngineeringHeroes,
in which we will celebrate
the people, companies and
technologies that have made
up UK engineering’s massive
contribution during this time.
Later this year, we will
publish a commemorative
supplement that tells and
honours these stories. In the
meantime, however, we will
use this website and this brand
to keep telling the story of
UK engineering’s role in the
response to Covid-19.

SOLUTION TO LAST MONTH’S COFFEE TIME CHALLENGE
The solution to last month’s
Co ee Time Challenge of
how to ll potholes with
more durable, e cient and
cheaper materials comes
from Roadmender Asphalt.
With the rapid growth
of road users, as well as
testing weather conditions,
local authorities have been
under increased pressure to
deal with road degradation.
In response to this, SMEs
like Roadmender Asphalt are
stepping forward to partner
with Local Councils to meet
this challenge with newly
developed products like
Elastomac, a owable mastic
asphalt made from recycled
materials like end of life tyres,
waste metal slag and bitumen,
that generates zero waste. It
is faster to install, and proven
to more than halve the cost of
pothole repairs.
As a owable product
made from 65% recycled
materials that’s poured into
pot holes, with 11 waste
tyres recycled into every ton,
Elastomac is also massively
more sustainable than the old
saw cut and replace repair
methods used to repair
potholes with regular asphalt.
