Welcome from BAPCO’s President
and TCCA’s Chief Executive
BAPCO president
BAPCO President, John Anthony, discusses why the BAPCO
Conference and Exhibition is the most important event in the
UK public safety communications calendar
This year provides another milestone in the long history
of BAPCO, for the rst time we will be hosting our annual
critical conference and exhibition in conjunction with
Communications Europe (CCE), which has been organised by
our TCCA colleagues. We have had a long relationship with
TCCA and we hope that the members of both associations
nd this new innovation an exciting bene t and of course
access to all conference sessions and the exhibition remains
free to BAPCO members.
The exhibition is due to be the largest we have ever held and
includes the exciting new Drone Zone as well as the popular
Showcase Theatre. As ever, we want the event to be about
business-to-business, as well as providing an opportunity for
customers and suppliers to come together. With an exciting
line up of international speakers as well as updates on topics
closer to home, delegates can look forward to an informative,
inspiring and exciting event.
We will once again be hosting the popular networking
dinner to give you a chance to relax after a busy day as well
as continuing discussions. We will be joined by our charity
partners Embrace and will learn about the important work
that they do as well as some exciting opportunities for you to
be involved in the challenge of a lifetime!
On behalf of the BAPCO Board and Executive Committee
I look forward to giving you a warm welcome to the
RicohArena.

TCCA Chief Executive
TCCA Chief Executive, Tony Gray discusses why
Critical Communications Europe is key for all
critical communication users.
This is the rst time that we are co-hosting this year’s
Critical Communications Europe with the BAPCO
Annual Conference and Exhibition. One of the key
bene ts is that those of you in Europe with an interest
in critical communications, but without the time to
travel to this year’s Critical Communications World
in Malaysia, can share insights and best practice in
person with your peers.
Another advantage of this combined approach is
the opportunity to learn rst-hand about what’s
taking place in the UK, while also understanding its
proper context as one of many different approaches
being taken around the world. As an example, look
out for Jarmo Vinkvist’s rst day keynote speech
on the future of Virve, Finland’s national critical
communicationsnetwork.
While the approaches of these national programmes
may differ, they are all supported and underpinned
by the on-going work to standardise mission critical
features in 3GPP. Don’t miss ETSI CTO Adrian Scrase’s
keynote address on this important work on the second
day of the event.
Of course, while the emergency services rst spring to
mind when people discuss critical communications,
many of their core requirements such as availability,
reliability and security are shared by many other
critical sectors. As TCCA represents the needs of those
users, as well of rst responders, we’ve plenty of
content from the utilities and transport markets that
showcases developments in
those areas.
I and the rest of TCCA
hope that you will leave
the show feeling
enthused, energised and
full of ideas to share
with your colleagues.
