Swedes pick Sepura
for sea rescues
e Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) has
chosen Swedish Radio Supply to supply
hand-portable and mobile TETRA terminals
fromSepura.
e terminal roll-out supports a programme
of operational enhancements, including new
operational headquarters with a larger space to
store safety equipment, and a eet of new highspeed
rescue boats.
SSRS now has more than 200 rescue boats
based at 71 rescue stations – all of which can
programme their local eet of radios using
Sepura’s Radio Manager software.
e chosen terminals include the STP9000
hand-portable, which features technology to
protect it against salt corrosion from seawater.
SSRS was established as a not-for-pro t
organisation in 1907. It operates on the island
of Käringön and receives around 450 calls
per year.
Airbus chairs Finnish
research programme
Airbus is chairing Priority, a Finnish
government-funded research programme.
Priority will seek to answer questions
around 5G security, AI, rural area coverage,
and hybrid network quality of service. It
aims to improve critical communications and
situational awareness for public safety users.
e consortium consists of stakeholders from
the Finnish public safety community.
“ e market is witnessing a major shift in
public safety communications and operations
due to technological evolution, as well as new
environmental and criminal threats. Research
programmes like this one are powerful
tools which help to bundle resources and
share know-how between key players in the
public safety domain,” said Tapio Savunen,
strategic marketing director for Secure Land
Communications at Airbus and chairman of
the Priority programme steering group.
Vietnam receives
Audax BWV cameras
Audax has won several contracts to supply
Vietnam’s military and police forces with
thousands of its body-worn video (BWV)
cameras. e company has so far shipped
2,000 cameras, with another 2,500 due to be
shipped beforeChristmas.
“Following a successful two-year
procurement selection process, the military and
police in Vietnam are rolling out thousands
of our cameras,” commented Adam Liardet,
Audax’s managing director. “I am proud
our Secured By Design product excellence
is recognised by our partners in Vietnam
who selected us because of our international
reputation and ‘evidentially’ secure cameras.”
e devices include a large front record
button, built-in IR lamps, and GPS.
e company explains its products are
designed to be secure so evidence can’t be
manipulated or tampered with.
