If HR admits its diversity problem it’s possible to learn from it training?
DWP ‘shocked’ by own
disability tribunal
record, 10 March
The Department for Work and
Pensions (DWP) has reportedly
lost more employment tribunals
for disability discrimination than
any other employer in the UK
since 2016.
This should come as no surprise
given that the DWP imposes
sanctions day in and day out
against the most vulnerable
in society – the long-term
chronically sick. Many end up
homeless or starving, leaving
charities and society to pick up
the pieces.

Understanding process
mining, March HR
Starting as a pure research
topic in the late 1990s, it
has proven commercial
value in areas such as
sales, manufacturing,
accounting, procurement
and consumer effi ciency.
I know quite a few organisations
that have been collecting process
data and doing analyses. I don’t
agree HR needs particularly
sophisticated technologies or
loads of data to be able to do this.
Having said that HR processes
are becoming less repeatable
because of the increasing rate of
change in businesses, and
because we want to make things
more conversational and focus
on experience rather than just
process. HR will generally gain
more value from smarter and
more agile design of their
processes, keeping them aligned
as things change, rather than
looking for generally small
inefficiencies in their operation.

Is HR a hypocrite when

February HR

HR itself walking the talk on

‘Sally in HR’ has been created as
a parody of the stereotypical
white female HR person trying
to do the right thing by doing
what’s required in terms of
training and policy provision...
but usually getting it wrong.
I’m sure I got many things
wrong during my HR career with
my then-limited world view and
lack of D&I education – but life
has kindly taken me down
with HR teams to address
woman named Sally!

I agree HR as a profession
needs to get to grips with its own
diversity matters if we are to
