Lizzy Firmin joined Ellisons as its
rst human resources director.
The law firm introduced the HR
role at the start of this year to help
develop and oversee its team of
almost 250 employees. Firmin will
manage Ellisons’ HR function; delivering people
management and wider business improvement
solutions that have a positive impact on business
performance.
“My passion is making sure people are
performing at their best and that HR strategy
offers a tangible and real impact across an
organisation,” said Firmin.
“I very much look forward to working with
Ellisons’ progressive and forward-thinking team,
helping them to develop the career they want to
create while working with the board to achieve

Kantar has promoted Rakesh
Lal to global HRD – public,
marketing and legal.
Lal will join the public division
leadership team and assume the
role of global HR director for
the public policy consulting and research
business. He will also continue to work with the
organisation’s global marketing function, as well
as partnering with its legal team.
Lal has been with Kantar for 10 years, starting
his career in insights where he was a business
partner to the UK and European teams and then
transitioned into partnering with finance and
marketing in 2016. He holds a BA with honours
in politics and a Masters in personnel
management and industrial relations.

Barbara Zesik joined Yell as its
new chief people of cer.
Online marketing company Yell
has appointed Zesik as its new
chief people officer. Zesik
previously worked at Stanley
Security as vice president of human resources,
and also held roles as interim HR director for
Europe at Cognita Schools and chief people
officer at Santa Fe Relocation.
Zesik is set to lead the company’s culture
transformation, which will include embedding
refreshed values and behaviours. She will be
reviewing company-wide reward and
recognition, as well as creating and leading new
initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
She is a certified master practitioner and
trainer of neurolinguistic programming, holds
an MSc in people and organisation development,
and a doctorate in business administration.
Jennifer Lawrence appointed
executive director of people
at Card Factory.
Lawrence was previously HR
director of Costcutter, and was
head of HR at Boots Opticians
before that. She has more than 18 years of HR
experience, shaping and implementing people
strategies for leading retailers and large businesses.
Her remit at Card Factory will be to develop
the company’s employee engagement, resource
planning, development and recruitment strategies.
“I am delighted to welcome Jennifer to Card
Factory,” chief executive Karen Hubbard said.
“We are a people-led business... I am confident
that we will benefit from Jennifer’s expertise in
delivering effective people strategies that support
our teams and our growth plans.”
