HP revamps Indigo range
HP has unveiled the “most exciting
launches in the history of HP
Indigo” and revamped a large
swathe of its B2, SRA3 and webfed
production presses, which
offer across-the-board productivity
boosts. Taking centre stage
among the new products was the
HP Indigo 100K, a B2 liquid toner
press targeted at high-volume
applications that is capable of
6,000sph. While all the new
Series 5 machines will be available
from the summer, the manufacturer
has also given a taste of what
it described as the revolutionary
Series 6, the HP Indigo V12
Digital Press. Set for a 2022
launch, the first model, configured
for labels, will offer 120m/
min and 1,600dpi.
Chili puts online editor in the cloud
Pre-media automation specialist
Chili Publish has made its document
editing know-how available
in a new cloud-based software as a
service (SaaS) version, targeting
web-to-print applications. Chili
Publisher Online is delivered as a
hosted cloud service and is available
in four different variants
depending on the level of usage
and SLA requirements: Starter for
small businesses; Business for
medium-sized firms; Professional
aimed at companies serving large
customers; and Private Cloud for
group-wide enterprises and global
brands.

EFI chief technology officer Doug
Edwards believes single-pass
inkjet technology will drive the
analogue-to-digital printing
transition, and anticipates that
EFI will be able to leverage its ink
manufacturing know-how to
deliver new water-based ink
solutions to its customers.
Edwards joined EFI at the beginning
of the year. He was speaking
at EFI’s three-day virtual event,
Ignite, which took place last
month, in a “fireside chat” with
EFI vice-president of worldwide
marketing Ken Hanulec. Ignite
featured livestreamed demos,
Q&As, masterclasses and educational
advice.
Ink surcharges
Three inks groups have been
forced to add a solvent surcharge
to their inks and coatings as a
result of the coronavirus pandemic,
which has impacted
virtually all types of jobs, from
commercial and marcomms to
DM and publishing, and open up
inkjet to general commercial
printers.

of sanitising and pharma

Chemical all, separately, rolled
out surcharges on all solvent-based

Intec in PPE drive
Intec Printing Solutions is supporting
printers looking to make
protective face shields during the
coronavirus pandemic with free
templates and a discount on its
recently launched FB8000 PRO
automated sheetfed cutter. The
manufacturer has produced a
royalty-free face shield cutting
design, complete with visor and
headband, which is available for
download from its website. Using
the templates, its FB8000 PRO
can cut a visor in under 25 seconds
and is able to make almost
1,000 face shields per shift. Intec
is offering a discount to companies
that wish to use the £12,999
FB8000 to supply face shields.
